Coo-Var Vandalene Anti Climb Paint, also known as security paint, anti intruder paint, or non-drying paint, is a revolutionary product designed to deter trespassers, vandals, and burglars. With its unique non-drying properties, this security paint offers a slip-free barrier that’s almost impossible to grip, providing an effective solution against intrusion.
The Coo-Var Vandalene Anti Climb Paint is a petroleum gel-based, non-drying paint that is applied thickly to potential climbing surfaces. The paint remains in a gel form, creating a slippery barrier that makes climbing nearly impossible. Any attempts to grip the painted surface result in the paint contaminating the intruder’s skin and garments, further deterring unwelcome access.
This anti climb paint is a non-aggressive form of security barrier. It’s typically used in combination with non-aggressive anti climb solutions like an anti climb Roller Barrier system especially in areas where aggressive anti climb solutions are inappropriate, such as schools and care establishments.
The Coo-Var Vandalene Anti Climb Paint is versatile and can be used in a variety of settings. While it’s non-toxic and harmless to humans and animals, it poses a threat to aquatic environments and should not be used around ponds or similar water bodies.
The security paint is primarily used to deter unauthorized access to rooftops and properties. It’s an effective deterrent against vandals who may try to climb structures to leave tags or spray-paint graffiti.
Anti Climb Paint is widely used in various applications, including:

With various types of anti-climb paint available in the market, it’s crucial to select a product that’s effective and reliable.
The Coo-Var Vandalene Anti Climb Paint supplied by us here at Palatine Paints is specifically manufactured to ensure high-quality performance. It contains no hazardous ingredients, is simple to apply, and serves as a powerful security barrier. Available in cans of different sizes (0.8kg, 2kg and 4kg) and in 2 colours. You’ll get approximately 2sqm per kg.
As a property owner, it’s essential to understand the legal implications of using security paint. Under the Occupiers Liability Act 1984, property owners have a duty of care to anyone on their property, including unwelcome intruders. If an intruder slips and injures themselves due to your security paint, this is considered a foreseeable hazard, and warnings should have been provided.
Other legal considerations include the Highways Act 1980 which requires that care is taken to prevent harm or injury if the painted wall or surface is adjacent to a public highway.
Moreover, it’s important to remember that the paint can stain or mark clothing, so it’s generally recommended to apply it to surfaces above 2.1m (7 feet) from the ground to avoid accidental contact.
When using Coo-Var Vandalene Anti Climb Paint, it’s essential to display warning signs to fulfil your duty of care and act as a deterrent. The signs should be prominently displayed where the paint has been applied.
We sell Coo-Bar warning signs in A4 and A5 sizes. You can purchase that here

Coo-Var Vandalene Anti Climb Paint is harmful to aquatic environments and should not be used around garden ponds or other water areas.
Once applied, Coo-Var Vandalene Anti Climb Paint can remain effective for several years, depending on the thickness of the application and environmental factors. Some clients have reported the paint remaining effective for up to 7 years before reapplication was necessary. The previous coat can act as an undercoat for the new application.
Coo-Var Vandalene Anti Climb Paint is petroleum gel-based and can potentially stain skin and clothing. Proprietary stain removers can be used, but usually, a solvent like white spirit or turpentine, followed by a thorough wash, will remove the paint stains. The same method can be used to remove the paint from a previously applied surface.
