Barrettine Peelaway 7 paste is an environmentally safe paint remover that removes many layers of architectural and domestic paints and industrial coatings. Used on most indoor and outdoor surfaces, vertical and overhead and is excellent for intricate, carved and moulded surfaces. It is mainly designed to remove modern paints and coatings.
Apply the paste by spatula, brush, trowel or spray* over the surface to be stripped, then cover with the Peelaway® poultice blanket for the required time (dwell time). When stripping is complete, remove the blanket, paste and paint. The cover retains paint which may contain toxic particles from the old paint preventing them becoming airborne.
*When spraying dilute up to 1 part water to 5 parts Peelaway® 7. We recommend an airless sprayer for heavy materials with a medium to coarse tip size.
Pack includes Barrettine Peelaway 7, Blanket and Spatula
Always carry out a test patch first.
Additional blankets are also available to order.
Note: Does not require neutralising.
Application / directions for use: Stir well before use.
Uneven Surfaces: Apply thickly (1mm to 3mm e.g. 1mm when removing varnish only) with brush or spatula working Peelaway® 7 into crevices, mouldings etc. Apply a second coat where appropriate to ensure correct thickness is achieved as indicated by the test patch.
Apply Peelaway® blanket over paste with printed side face out. Rub gently to ensure good adhesion to the paste, pierce any air bubbles.
Dwell time will be as determined by the test patch. This is usually between 1 and up to 48 hours depending on paint types, thickness and temperature. Heavy paint build up over plaster mouldings may need even longer (up to 72 hours), which may facilitate the lifting of paint and blanket with the spatula, but never leave to dry hard.
Coverage: Coverage can vary considerably from project to project but as a guide approximately 1m2 per kilo at 1mm thick.
Flat Surfaces: Apply (1mm to 3mm e.g. 1mm when removing varnish only) with a brush, spatula, hawk and trowel or industrial sprayer to required thickness. Apply Peelaway® blanket over paste with printed side face out. Rub gently to ensure good adhesion to the paste, pierce any air bubbles.
Dwell time will be as determined by the test patch, between 1 and up to 48 hours depending on paint types, thickness and temperature. As a guide coverage is approximately 1m2 per kilo at 1mm thick.
