Surface Preparation –
Bare Concrete:
Do not apply to newly laid concrete. Surfaces to be coated should be at least 4 weeks old and have a moisture content of less than 8%. They should also be free from any contaminants or surface laitance (a weak dusty layer on concrete). Traces of grease or oil can be removed using Palatine M.P Thinners.
Very smooth concrete or concrete with surface laitance should be treated with Concrete etching fluid to ensure good adhesion. Treated areas should be thoroughly washed down and allowed to dry before coating.
Painted Surfaces
Floor paints typically have poor adhesion to power floated concrete. Power floated floors must be either blast
treated or chemically etched prior to the use of Carbotread Floor Paint.
Painted Surfaces & Asphalt
Smooth & previously painted surfaces should be thoroughly abraded by sanding to improve adhesion and to remove any weak or loose material. It is advisable to test the coating on a small area first to check compatibility with previous coatings and adhesion. New asphalt should be sand rubbed when laid.
Surface Preparation – Wooden Floors
Sand down the surface where necessary to remove any existing coatings and loose material. Remove all dust and ensure surfaces are clean and dry before application of the coating. Seal any knots with a clear knotting solution.
Mixing Mix thoroughly for approx. 2 mins using a wide bladed stirrer. A wooden batten at least 25mm wide is ideal.
For anti-slip surfaces ensure the Texturing agent is evenly dispersed throughout the mix.
Best results are obtained in warm (minimum 15°C), dry conditions with a good through draught.
Apply using a brush and/or long pile, double arm roller.
On bare concrete floors it is recommended that the first coat be diluted with up to 20% White Spirit by volume prior to application. This will help seal the concrete surface. Once dried, a second coat can be applied at full strength.
On previously painted floors it is recommended that two thin coats be applied rather than one thick coat. This will prolong the life and performance of the coating. For wooden flooring allow to dry thoroughly before applying a second coat, if required.
Thinning and Cleaning: Use Palatine White Spirit.

I used it on wooden stairs. The coverage was excellent and a delight to apply. It has a high gloss finish, maybe too glossy that is only negative for me

Used this paint in light grey on a wooden bathroom floor which was damaged and badly water stained. The paint went on really well and only required two coats (with no primer needed). So far, the paint seems really hard wearing…the floor has had quite a bit of foot traffic but still looks great.
