Coo-Var Acid Etch For Floors is a solution used to remove residual laitance from new concrete prior to painting.

Coo-Var Acid Etch For Floors is a solution made up of a blend of acids and wetting agents. It is designed to be used to remove laitance and salts in addition to cleaning new concrete and render. It is also used to prepare especially smooth and power floated concrete if blasting or mechanical abrasion is not a practical option.

Surface Preparation
Clear and sweep the area to be etched to remove debris. Ensure surface is free of oil and grease before application.
Mixing Instructions
Dilution guide. Mix 1 part Coo-Var Acid Etch with 3 parts water, further applications may be necessary depending upon the severity of etch/cleaning required.
Application Conditions
See Health and Safety data sheet for suitable personal protective equipment. When the Acid Etch is applied it begins to react with the surface and will bubble as the reaction is carried out. When the bubbling has stopped then the reaction is complete and the remaining neutralised acid should be washed away with fresh water. Allow to dry completely before attempting to paint the surface.
Preceding Coat
Coo-Var Universal Degreaser or Coo-Var Oil Remover where required.
Subsequent Coat
Suitable Coo-Var top coat.
Remarks
Essential for good adhesion of paint where mechanical abrading is not possible.
