Surface Preparation
Surfaces to be painted should be free from nibs, cavities, and other imperfections. Mould, oil stains, if any, must be removed. Moisture content of concrete must be below 14% prior to application of any coating. Concrete and render should be treated with Coo-Var Acid Etch prior to painting to remove any dirt and laitance and to create a good “key” for the paint. Apply a 10% thinned coat of Coo-Var Swimming Pool Paint to prime and seal the surface prior to applying any unthinned coats. Surfaces previously painted with Coo-Var Swimming Pool Paint and that are in good condition can be scrubbed clean and the surface roughened to help adhesion of the new coating, a test area is advised to ensure compatibility of the new coating. Old perished chlorinated rubber coatings should be removed mechanically and treated as new substrate and prepared accordingly. If the painted surface is unknown then a test area is recommended before full application to check for compatibility and adhesion.
Coo-Var Swimmming Pool Paint is suitable for use on fibreglass and GRP, please ensure the surface is clean and abrade the surface thoroughly.
