Chassis, Vehicle & Military Paint is a tough durable alkyd based product that provides vehicle chassis and bodywork with a protective decorative coating, available in black and many colours. It is available in a matt, satin or gloss finish and can be applied by brush or spray.
The wide range of colours and finishes make our chassis paint ideal for vehicle restorations. We are able to supply a chassis paint that closely matches an existing chassis colour. This ensures the appearance the chassis is as close to original as possible without access to the original paint.
We have an extensive range of stock colours available in our chassis paint, including black, anthracite grey and NATO green. However, if you would like a colour other than those shown, please contact us by web chat, phone or email. Our custom tinting service enables us to provide a colour that will meet your needs exactly.
Product features:
Surface Preparation
On previously painted surfaces, ensure it is sound and non-flaking. Abrade the surface preferably by mechanical abrasion to provide a “key” and maximise adhesion of the subsequent coating.
Mixing
Stir the paint with a drill stirrer or wooden baton at least 2” wide. Continue to stir during application.
Application
Apply a nice even coat by brush or roller . Use a paint brush for cutting in. Avoid applying the paint too thickly to avoid delaying drying times. The second coat can be applied as soon as the first coat is hard dry after 6-24 hours, and should be applied within 5 days. If more than 5 days elapse, the first coat should be lightly abraded before the second coat is applied. Avoid washing the surface for 7 days.
Preceding Coat
For bare metal apply Carboxide Metal Primer. If the colour of the surface is being altered to a high variation or if surface is pitted use Carboxide All Purpose Primer Undercoat.
Subsequent Coat
For increased surface protection, a second coat is recommended.
Application Methods
Brush, Roller, Airless or Conventional Spray
Airless Spray: Output fluid pressure at tip 1800-2000 psi, Tip Size 0.017″ -0.021″ (0.43-0.53 mm)
Application by brush can achieve up to 75 microns dft
When applying by roller, use a solvent resistant sleeve.
Avoid excessive film thickness as this will cause through-drying problems
Please note: The colours on the product listings are only given as a guide. This is due to the fact that every computer monitor has a different capability to display colours. In addition, everyone sees these colours differently. Sample pots are available to order upon request. Always carry out a test patch (approximately 100x100mm) before full application
to ensure compatibility with previous coatings and the substrate, and to ensure the colour achieved meets your requirements. Failure to do so will result in a product refund claim not being accepted.

Super product. Painted by brush on an old Nissan Chassis.
After using the Palatine Primer. Really nice finish and coverage.

From Carbowash to Chassis paint on a galvanised Land Rover Chassis. After a really helpful discussion with Palatine I built up my chassis paint scheme after Carbowashing the galvanised finish, with two coats of zinc rich primer and their satin finish black chassis paint. Excellent result with brush and roller. Good adhesion in all the awkward profiles. Shame no one else will ever see it!!

Applied over anti corrosion metal primer, marvellous finish.
