Surface Preparation
On previously painted surfaces, ensure it is sound and non-flaking. Abrade the surface preferably by mechanical abrasion to provide a “key” and maximise adhesion of the subsequent coating.
Mixing
Stir the paint with a drill stirrer or wooden baton at least 2” wide. Continue to stir during application.
Application
Apply a nice even coat by brush or roller . Use a paint brush for cutting in. Avoid applying the paint too thickly to avoid delaying drying times. The second coat can be applied as soon as the first coat is hard dry after 6-24 hours, and should be applied within 5 days. If more than 5 days elapse, the first coat should be lightly abraded before the second coat is applied. Avoid washing the surface for 7 days.
Preceding Coat
For bare metal apply Carboxide Metal Primer. If the colour of the surface is being altered to a high variation or if surface is pitted use Carboxide All Purpose Primer Undercoat.
Subsequent Coat
For increased surface protection and film thickness apply Palatine Polyurethane Varnish
Application Methods
Brush, Roller, Airless or Conventional Spray
Airless Spray: Output fluid pressure at tip 1800-2000 psi, Tip Size 0.017″ -0.021″ (0.43-0.53 mm)
Application by brush can achieve up to 75 microns dft
When applying by roller, use a solvent resistant sleeve.
Avoid excessive film thickness as this will cause through-drying problems
Please note: The colours on the product listings are only given as a guide. This is due to the fact that every computer monitor has a different capability to display colours. In addition, everyone sees these colours differently. Sample pots are available to order upon request. Always carry out a test patch (approximately 100x100mm) before full application to ensure compatibility with previous coatings and the substrate, and to ensure the colour achieved meets your requirements. Failure to do so will result in a product refund claim not being accepted.
