Floor Paint For Wood is an alkyd paint designed for use on interior wooden floors. It provides a decorative satin finish to the floor while protecting it from the everyday wear of foot traffic. Our wood floor paint is an ideal way to revitalise your wooden flooring or update the design of a room without having to pay out for new flooring.
Palatine Paints is a manufacturer of paints, not just a supplier. This means we have full knowledge of the paint and it’s properties and can answer any questions you may have before ordering to ensure our wooden floor paint suits your needs.
Our range of stock colours provide a number of different applications and looks. These include neutral greys and greens, as well as more vibrant choices such as Sunflower Yellow and Steampunk Skirt Blue.
In addition to these colours, we can also tint custom colours to match your vision for your wooden flooring. For more information on this service, please contact us through web chat, phone or email.
If you’re looking for a paint for your wooden decking, we also supply a transparent finish decking oil, available in a range of colours that will allow the grain to be seen through the finish for a more natural look.
Wood Floor Paint is also available in white and black in addition to the colours shown here.

Preparation: Previously coated, waxed, polished or oiled floors must be cleaned and fully sanded back to bare wood using appropriate floor sanding equipment before using the wood floor paint (Anti-Slip). When using on previously over coated wood that has not been sanded back properly, we cannot guarantee adhesion.
Any surface defects or open joints should be repaired using a suitable wood filler for the floor. Resinous deposits should be removed with a scraper and the surface degreased, by wiping with a clean, lint-free cloth, dampened with methylated spirits. Change the face of the cloth frequently. Allow solvent to fully evaporate before proceeding.
Mixing: Stir the paint with a drill stirrer or wooden baton at least 2” wide. Continue to stir during application to avoid thickening of the product.
Application: Apply by brush, roller or spray and work well into the surface. Avoid applying the paint to thickly to avoid delaying drying times. The second and subsequent coats can be applied as soon as the first / preceding coat is dry usually after 12-24 hours, and should be applied within 5 days.
If more than 5 days elapse, the first coat should be lightly abraded before the second coat is applied. Avoid power washing the surface for 7 days.
Wood Floor Paint is touch dry in 3 hours and hard dry in 24 hours, with an expected coverage of 12 – 14m² per litre. For thinning and cleaning, use white spirit.
